Genomics for Biomedical Drug Discovery is an online bioinformatics training program that will provide an in-depth overview of concepts and analytical tools used to study genomic variation.

Each week, participants will meet online to discuss various aspects of NGS data processing, genomic data analysis, and interpretation. After the first introductory lectures, participants will have the opportunity to get guidance and work on curated datasets or develop independent projects that leverage the tools and concepts covered in this program.

  • Introduction to exploratory analysis in R and python
  • Hands-on work with genomics (alignment, characterization of mutations, haplotypes, relationship between sequence and structure, evolution)
  • Learn to map the mutations to known 3D structures and learn about the impact on the structure, function, and behavior.

The program is designed to introduce students, clinicians, and researchers to the role and the applications of Genomic Data Analysis to study genomic variation and apply genomics in translational sciences to improve diagnostic accuracy, predict which drugs are likely to be effective in patients, and contribute to the monitoring, treatment, and diseases in individuals and populations.

Topics for Genomics:

  • NGS Genomics (Sanger, WES, WGS)
  • DNA code and variation (Intro to Genomics)
  • Sequence Alignment and Analysis (Genomics 1)
  • Sequence, Structure, and Function

Genomics Project Examples:

  1. Drug metabolism and pharmacogenomics
  2. Sequence alignment and drug efficacy for Malaria

The program is open for registration now and interested students/participants/faculty can register using: https://genomics.omicslogic.com/. The participants of the program will get access to asynchronous courses, coding platform, Omics Logic projects, live sessions, and access to the T-Bioinfo server as part of the program once completing registration.

To learn more about other phases of the program starting in May & June download the program brochure.
